Books

Well it seems I have turned into a journal making production line, it's been a while since I made any books and I'd forgotten how satisfying it can be. The bottom one is one of two ready to be shipped round the UK etsy team, the top one is a sketchbook available in my shop.

Unravelled

I've been busy unravelling some of my first crochet attempts that were, to be honest, completely rubbish. But instead of assigning them to the bottom of a box that will remain in the back of the already over full cupboard I am unpicking them, partly to reuse the wool because I cannot afford to waste it, partly to release myself from my own laziness, to prove that I have the discipline to correct what I have done wrong and work at something again and again until I get it right.

There is something very satisfying about this, even if I do sound a little bit nutty! Who'd have thought a little ball of wool could mean so much. But when you have boxes and boxes full of things to try later and things started but not finished and things finished badly never to see the light of day, especially when you are on the verge of moving house, even a little ball of wool can matter. Do I throw it out? Do I keep it with the rest of the rejects? Or do I reuse it and make it functional.

Multitude of Angels

Been busy making angels and lightcatchers to stock the shop up with, listed the first finished one on Etsy and it's sold straight away so that's a good sign! Will finish sticking on the mirrors tonight then tomorrow might have a go at some felt ones. Have an idea for a canvas lurking in the back of my mind too so might start that before bed as well. After a day like yesterday it's good to be a bit more productive.

Momentum - IF and IMT

It's been a while since I've taken part in either Illustration Friday or Inspire Me Thursday and I've realised lately I've kind of lost my momentum where my art is concerned. I have been concentrating on my crafts and building up my etsy shop but on reflection this has got a lot to do with the fact I have lost my way a bit. I've started a few canvases but get so far through them when I get stuck and don't know where to take them.

Illustration Friday and Inspire Me Thursday were both instrumental in pushing my art forward when I started blogging so what better place to go. Momentum is the theme for IF, limited palettes the subject of IMT, the above is the resulting artwork, a digital collage, all original photography. Not sure what it's saying but I love it.

Finished

Cards are all printed, photographed and being listed as we speak, available on Etsy and Chalk Hill Studio.

Cards and sea ceramic

Today's crafting 365 task is printing off more cards, both for etsy and Chalk Hill, and trying to get well stocked up before the wedding orders pick up and Christmas arrives.

In the post this morning arrived an enevelope stuffed full of these gorgeous ceramic pebbles all the way from Scotland via Stephanie's etsy shop (yes I've gone etsy mad lately but it's so wonderful over there!), so there's another project to add to my huge to do list!

Kamal went back to school today, it's ever so quiet without him and his poor little sister is just moping about the house. Oh well, back to normal for a while.

Cuteable

Look who found themselves on cuteable! How cool is that!

Crafting 365

The lovely Lupin over at Etsy has started a flickr group called Crafting 365. The idea is to do a little bit of crafting every day and record what you do, a very good way to finish off those projects you have lurking in cupboards (of which I have loads) and feeling like you have achieved something on a daily basis, however small!

This is a philosophy I adopted when my eldest was a baby, instead of getting frustrated at what I hadn't got done I decided to do a little bit every day and slowly things got done and my business grew from there. Since having my daughter and trying to move house and stuff I have slacked lately so this group has come at a good time.

So far I have finished 2 necklaces and a scarf, all now for sale in my other etsy shop Up With the Lark
